Lay that Trumpet in Our HandsLay that Trumpet in Our Hands by Susan Carol McCarthy

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The story is set in central Florida where I now live, so it was interesting to read about places that are very local. It's a young adult type book which Amber was assigned to read over the summer. I read it wondering if it would be a worthwhile book, and it definitely was. The author brings to life the racial prejudices that played out in actual events in the early 1950's from the point of view of a young teenage girl. It's a well-written and interesting story.

Bonds That Make Us Free: Healing Our Relationships, Coming to OurselvesBonds That Make Us Free: Healing Our Relationships, Coming to Ourselves by C. Terry Warner

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don't give 5 stars very often. This was one of the most interesting books I have read. I think the author has been very sincere and insightful in developing and offering an approach to resolving difficulties in any kind of relationship in a Christlike way. Maybe not always simple and easy, but worthy of careful thought. As soon as I finished I wanted to read it again.

Herbal Antibiotics: Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug-Resistant Bacteria (Storey Medicinal Herb Guide)Herbal Antibiotics: Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug-Resistant Bacteria by Stephen Harrod Buhner

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars. I learned more about the top antibiotic herbs, the effectiveness of antibacterial spices in food, immune system herbs, qualities of and uses for honey, and the different ways to prepare herbs for use. A quick read, and a good book to keep for reference.

Good book, and not too encyclopedic.

I listened to it on CD this time. The voices could have been better cast, but I enjoyed the story.
